Medical preparedness during hurricane season: Stay safe and ready

It is tough to consider that the 2023 hurricane season is upon us, especially as many in our community and from our Lee Health team are still recovering from Hurricane Ian’s impact and destruction. All of us learned loads from Hurricane Ian, and I’m sure a lot of us are going into this next hurricane season more prepared, but as Lee Health’s president & CEO, I need to remind you to organize on your health and medical needs.

Some of the necessary things to do to organize for hurricane season is to find out in case you or your family members need access to a special care shelter. Lee Health hospitals and facilities should not hurricane shelters. In the event you or a loved one requires assistance that exceeds services provided at a general population shelter, it’s essential to preregister with Lee County Emergency Management. Visit leegov.com/hurricane, click on “Advanced Planning” after which “Special Needs” for more information and the link to the applying.
