What is the best place for cheesecake in Southwest Florida?

We have asked on your favorite places for pizza and cheeseburgers. Now it is time for dessert.

Here’s one which some either savor and others, not a lot. I’m not an enormous fan of this dessert but when it’s made excellent, it’s amongst my favorites.

In fact I’m talking about cheesecake. There’s nothing finer than a Recent York cheesecake made to perfection. It just has the “it” factor, a touch of cheese and it is not too cheesy or waxy.

Cheesecake was invented in Wisconsin within the 1800s … sorry, I could not help myself. Our Badger State friends known for all things cheese and curds didn’t discover the delicacy.

It actually was the Ancient Greeks (who else!) who supposedly invented cheesecake before the Romans conquered Greece. And if any bakers within the Roman Empire claimed to have discovered cheesecake, I say they simply stole the recipe.

Cheesecake conquests aside, please share your favorite place in Southwest Florida for cheesecake. And if you wish to send us a photograph of you having fun with a cheesecake at that special place, please send it to us with permission to run it. Email your responses to dosborn@gannett.com and we’ll share them with others.

The salted caramel, left, and Key west cheesecakes at The 239 in Mercato, North Naples.

Your responses will appear online next Monday, Oct. 2. National Cheesecake Day was earlier this 12 months, July 30, but why should we’ve got to attend one other 10 months?

And if there’s a song titled “Cheesecakes in Paradise,” I have not found it. There’s a song called “Cheesecake” by 27-year-old rapper Billy Marchiafava from suburban Chicago. The “cleaned up version” has no mention of cheesecake, even though it does include shrimp and Cap’n Crunch cereal.
