Renowned Writers Unite in the Battle against Book Bans in Florida

Famous authors and hundreds of thousands of greenbacks are backing a campaign to combat book banning in Florida. PEN America, a free speech organization, announced the news on Wednesday morning, stating that it plans to open a Florida center before the tip of the 12 months to “host public events, wage campaigns, and empower Florida residents to defend their basic freedoms.” Bestselling detective and crime fiction writer Michael Connelly and his wife, Linda McCaleb Connelly, have committed $1 million for the campaign, which focuses on bans in Florida and across the country, based on a press release from PEN America. Other authors have collectively contributed greater than $3.6 million.
