Reports indicate that Dolphins running back De’Von Achane will be absent for several weeks.

Dolphins running back De’Von Achane, the second-leading rusher within the NFL, will miss multiple weeks with a knee injury and is perhaps placed on injured reserve, in accordance with multiple reports Tuesday morning.

Coach Mike McDaniel said Achane was being evaluated Monday and wouldn’t speculate on the severity of the injury, which apparently was suffered late in Sunday’s victory over the Recent York Giants.

NFL Network reported Achane can be week-to-week and it wasn’t expected to be a protracted absence. ESPN said he’s looking for a second opinion and is a candidate for injured reserve, which might knock him out of 4 games. It also could open the door for Jeff Wilson to start practicing and are available off injured reserve.

Achane trails only Christian McCaffrey of San Francisco with 460 yards and five TDs.

The Dolphins face the winless Carolina Panthers at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. But after that, the road gets significantly tougher. The following games can be at Philadelphia, vs. Recent England and at Kansas City (in Germany).
