Lee County approves contract to repair Matlacha fishing pier

Fishing piers are considered one of the vital iconic structures in Florida. In Southwest Florida, the Naples Pier, the Fort Myers Beach Pier, and the fishing pier within the Matlacha Community Park are popular with local residents, snowbirds, and tourists.

All three piers were significantly impacted by Hurricane Ian, which hit this region on September 28, 2022. All three piers have been shut down until they’re rebuilt or repaired. Plans are being discussed for the Naples and Fort Myers Beach piers, and now there’s excellent news concerning the Matlacha pier.

On October 17, Lee County approved money to repair the fishing pier.
