Rick Scott voices opposition to President Biden’s provision of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott will oppose the Biden administration’s plan to send aid to Palestinians, stating that such humanitarian assistance might be seized by the Hamas terrorist group.

“I completely oppose giving money to Hamas. I completely oppose giving money to the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization),” Scott said on Thursday night after speaking at a Boca Raton synagogue. “Hamas runs Gaza. Any aid that is going to enter Gaza will go to Hamas.”

The Republican senator spoke just before President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office. In his remarks, Biden made a transparent distinction between the Palestinian people and the Hamas terrorist organization.

“Hamas doesn’t represent the Palestinian people,” the president said. “Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields, and innocent Palestinian families are suffering greatly due to them.”

Biden acknowledged the imperative have to be sure that “Hamas doesn’t divert or steal” aid shipments. He stated that in his discussions with Israeli and Egyptian leaders, he managed to “secure an agreement for the primary shipment of humanitarian assistance from the United Nations to Palestinian civilians” living in Gaza.
