2023 Distinguished Public Service Awards on Nov. 7

Greater Naples Chamber, in partnership with Collier County 100 Club, will host its annual Distinguished Public Service Awards honoring local heroes who’ve exceeded the day by day job requirements in Collier County and have gone above and beyond. This annual recognition event serves as a testament to the community’s commitment to excellence in public service and can be held at 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Hilton Naples.

Every year, the Distinguished Public Service Awards shines a highlight on exceptional individuals and organizations which have made remarkable contributions to our community, embodying the spirit of service and civic responsibility. This yr’s honorees represent a various array of fields and backgrounds, yet they share a typical commitment to the betterment of Naples and its residents.

CCMS 2023-2024 Physician Member Directory now available

In its ongoing effort to facilitate access to top-notch healthcare for each residents and visitors, Collier County Medical Society (CCMS) releases an annual complimentary directory featuring its physician members in Southwest Florida. The most recent release of the CCMS Physician Member Directory, widely acknowledged as a useful resource inside the medical community, is now available.

The CCMS Directory consists of over 600 actively practicing physicians inside our community, spanning nearly 60 medical specialties. This directory, which incorporates contact information for physician offices and highlights their practice specialties, can be refreshed on an annual basis to include pertinent information on various local, state, and federal healthcare programs, in addition to allied healthcare services.

Complimentary copies of the CCMS 2023-24 Physician Member Directory can be found at Collier County libraries. During limited hours, additional copies are also available on the CCMS office in Naples; call 239-435-7727 to rearrange pick-up or visit your nearest library.

SWFL International Airport reports September traffic

During September, 560,358 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. This was a rise of 9 percent in comparison with September 2022. 12 months-to-date, passenger traffic is down 12 percent.

The traffic leader in September was Delta with 138,742 passengers. Rounding out the highest five airlines were Southwest (104,075), American (86,950), United (74,892) and JetBlue (55,364).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 5,294 aircraft operations, a rise of 14 percent in comparison with September 2022. Page Field saw 15,835 operations, which was a 23 percent increase in comparison with September 2022.

Southwest Florida International Airport served a record-breaking 10.3 million passengers in 2022 and is considered one of the highest 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction. For more information, visit flylcpa.com.

The Lee County Port Authority also announced that Spirit Airlines will inaugurate nonstop service between Southwest Florida International Airport and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) starting Dec. 15. The flight will operate 4 times weekly.
