Top-tier group of golfers set to compete at the Grant Thornton Invitational in Naples

The 32-player field for the Grant Thornton Invitational, the inaugural mixed-team event set for this December in Naples, is complete. The ultimate 10 teams announced Wednesday are Charley Hull and Justin Rose; Megan Khang and Denny McCarthy; Celine Boutier and Harris English; Andrea Lee and Billy Horschel; Mel Reid and Russell Henley; Cheyenne Knight and Tom Hoge; Madelene Sagstrom and Ludvig Aberg; Allisen Corpuz and Cameron Champ; Ruoning Yin and Nick Taylor; and Leona Maguire and Lucas Glover. These 10 pairings join the six previously committed to finish on the Grant Thornton: Nelly Korda and Tony Finau, Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler, Lydia Ko and Jason Day, Rose Zhang and Sahith Theegala, Lilia Vu and Joel Dahmen, and Canadian golfers Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson. The achieved field features 24 of the world’s top 50 ranked PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour golfers and has combined for 141 profession victories, with 25 of those wins occurring this 12 months. There are 11 major champions in the sector, including all five major winners from the 2023 LPGA season.

“Interest from professionals on each tours was incredibly strong, and we’re thrilled with the compelling mixed teams and world-class players heading to Naples this December,” Grant Thornton tournament director Rob Hartman said. “These final 10 teams are comprised of lots of the game’s rising stars, current 12 months LPGA Tour and PGA TOUR winners, and members of each the 2023 Solheim Cup and Ryder Cup teams. The 16 mixed teams, evenly comprised of PGA and LPGA players, will compete for a $4 million purse. The three-day tournament, which can consist of three distinct playing formats in scramble, foursome, and modified four-ball, is ready for Dec. 8-10 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples and might be televised by NBC and Golf Channel. Nelly Korda, 25, has eight profession victories, and Tony Finau, 34, has six. Finau won twice this season, and Korda has seven top 10 finishes thus far. Korda is one in every of 12 LPGA Tour players in the sector who competed on this 12 months’s Solheim Cup.

Boutier, 29, has won five times, including a significant championship, on the LPGA Tour, and English, 34, has won 4 times on the PGA TOUR. Boutier earned three of her profession wins plus seven top-10 finishes this season and currently leads the race to CME Globe standings. Harris has five top-10 finishes this season and knows the Tiburón layout well, having won the QBE Shootout 3 times there.

Lee, 25, and Horschel, 36, have a combined eight wins during their careers. Lee played in her first Solheim Cup this 12 months, and Horschel played in his first-ever skilled team event last 12 months on the Presidents Cup. Each player has recorded three top-10 finishes this season.

Reid, 36, and Henley, 34, have a combined five profession victories on their respective tours. Reid has been a member of 4 European Solheim Cup teams during her profession. Together, they’ve six top-10 finishes this 12 months, with Henley earning one victory.

Knight, 26, won her second profession title this season and in addition played within the Solheim Cup. Hoge, 34, won his first tournament last 12 months and followed that up with a win on the 2022 QBE Shootout alongside Theegala last December. This team has nine top-10 finishes this season.

Corpuz, 30, and Champ, 28, have a combined 4 profession victories. The primary of Champ’s three PGA wins got here in 2019, while Corpuz won for the primary time at this season’s U.S. Women’s Open. Corpuz was also a member of this 12 months’s U.S. team at her first Solheim Cup and went 2-0-0 with Nelly Korda in foursomes.

Yin, 21, from China, and Taylor, 35, from Canada, have a combined five profession wins, with three coming this 12 months.
