April 8-13: Cast Your Vote for the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week Sponsored by Babcock Ranch

The Naples Each day News Athlete of the Week poll for April 8-13 is here.

Each week the Naples Each day News staff will select one finalist in each highschool sport. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches throughout the week to Readers can then vote in the net poll to find out who the Athlete of the Week might be.

The poll is posted at each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Thursday each week. The winner might be announced on the @ndnprepzone Instagram page and on X at @NDN_PrepZone. The winning athlete will receive a shirt courtesy of BSN Sports.

Last week’s winner was Barron Collier softball player Jordyn Kinn. She received 24,917 votes of the 55,034 forged (45.28%) to win Athlete of the Week.

Listed here are the nominees for this week:


Johnny King, Naples

Struck out 13 over five innings of labor on Thursday in an 8-1 win over Community School. On the plate, he got here just in need of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a triple, double, and single with a walk and a run scored.


Melissa Hyatt, Gulf Coast

Went a combined 4-for-6 with 4 RBI, three runs scored, two stolen bases, and a walk against Immokalee and Lely.

Boys Lacrosse

Isaac Lyon, Community School

Went an ideal 9-for-9 on faceoffs in a 17-1 district quarterfinal win over Cypress Lake.

Girls Lacrosse

Emma Masterson, Gulf Coast

Scored seven goals, added two assists, three ground balls, and a caused turnover in a 17-2 district quarterfinal win over Lely.

Boys Track and Field

Joshua Philogene, Lely

Grabbed a pair of first place finishes within the sprinting events, with an 11.23 within the 100-meter dash and a 22.98 within the 200.

Girls Track and Field

Liusmar Rivas Velasquez, Barron Collier

Grabbed a double win on the ladies side, winning the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.84, and a time of 57.63 within the 400-meter dash.
